Jaipur based Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University provides an excellent opportunity to the girls wishing to join the exciting world of Journalism after completing 12th. The University, nestled in the rural settings on the outskirts of Jaipur city, offers a three year (six semester) course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Art in Journalism & Mass Communication. The syllabus of the course has been designed in such a way that the girls are able to keep pace with the continuously changing world of journalism. The University has a state of the art Community Radio Station that provides hands on training to those wanting to become RJ (Radio Jockey) or become Radio Journalists. A well developed Web TV Media studios, with all the modern facilities at the department of Journalism & Mass Communication adds to the growing infrastructure to help the budding journos hone their skills.The expert faculty of the University encourages the students to learn the required skills and also prepare, edit and air programs on the Community Radio.
A unique feature of the BA Journalism, BJ + MJ courses at Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University is the greater emphasis on practical and field exposure to the students. The students are provided an opportunity to take part in real time journalism as they accompany the teachers in the field for collecting information, conducting on the spot interviews and also airing the stories. A van is kept ready at the University to take them to the field. ‘’Field exposure is the key in journalism education....mere class room teaching won’t suffice...at best it will give them theoretical knowledge but we must remember that the journalists are tested only in the fields,’’ says Dr. Panckaj Garg, the Founder & Advisor of the University. The department has a rich collection of journals, magazines and leading newspapers to allow the students to be familiar with the happenings in the world.
Internship
is an essential component of the program and as such every student has to
compulsorily undergo internship as part of her syllabus. The University also
assists the students in getting placed in leading media organizations across the country.
